The NFL draft was this weekend. Danny Woodhead, the 5’7 running back from Chadron State went undrafted, but will sign as a free agent with the New York Jets. Also undrafted, Huskers Maurice Purify and QB Sam Keller. Linebacker Steve Octavien signed a free agent contract with Kansas City, Cornerback Cortney Grixby signed on with Carolina. Cornerback Zach Bowman drafted by the Bears in the 5th round as was Carl Nicks taken by the Saints. The New England Patriots took linebacker Bo Ruud in the 6th round. Xavier Omon from Beatrice, set all sorts of records with Northwest Missouri State got picked up by the Bills in the 6th round.
