Chris Forfar’s goal at the 2:47 mark of overtime gave Lincoln a 4-3 win over the Lancers and forced game five in their Clark Cup semi-final series. It was the second time the Stars had avoided elimination in the series after the Lancers had taken a 2-0 lead.
Lancer forward Drew Conboy opened the scoring at 7:23 of the first period, converting a breakaway effort past Lincoln goaltender David Reekie for a 1-0 lead. Lincoln then tied the game at 1-1 on a shorthanded goal scored by Rick Carden at 9:47. but 11 seconds later, at 9:58, Dakota Eveland gave the Lancers the lead back, at 2-1. Jake Newton tied the game for Lincoln on a power play in the 2nd period and took a 3-2 on a Jimmy Hayes goal 43 seconds in the 3rd. The Lancers tied the game with 4:58 to play.
Forfar’s game-winning goal came as he pounded in a loose puck at the Lancer crease past goaltender Drew Palmisano. It was Forfar’s second goal of the playoffs and came at 2:47 of overtime.
The win on home ice by the Stars on Tuesday, April 29th evened the best-of-five series at two-games each, with game five set for Wednesday evening, April 30th at the Mid-America Center, starting at 7:05 PM.
