A.G. will not allow outside attorney to be hired

The Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission has voted to hire an outside attorney to negotiate with the State Attorney General and federal housing officials. But Attorney General Jon Bruning leaves little doubt on whether that is going to happen.  He says they can’t hire an attorney without his approval and he’s not giving his approval.
The commission voted at a meeting today to use federal dollars for the lawyer..but Bruning tells us they are not authorized to do that.Commission members and Bruning have been battling over discrimination cases. They claim his refusal to take on cases involving illegal immigrants threatens the commission’s federal funding.
